International Conference on Gender, Science and Technology for Sustainable Development: Looking Ahead to the Next 10 Years The Gender Advisory Board of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development held an international conference on December 12-13, 2006 with representatives of the key networks, agencies and organisations working on gender, science and technology for development globally to: Review the lessons learned from international efforts over the past decade to achieve greater gender equity in science and technology for development. On the basis of these lessons and new development goals, identify what further international and national action is required for the next decade. Review the institutional arrangements, especially at the international level, that are needed to ensure that action and implementation occur. Participating organisations included: Gender Advisory Board, UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development; UNESCO; Global Alliance for Diversifying the Science and Engineering Workforce; Third World Organisation of Women in Science; National Council for Women, Egypt; WIGSAT; Inter Academy Council; International Science Council (ICSU) and others.
